Today I stumbled across an advertisement by Whitney Tilson about making money off of something called “TaaS.”
Which he says could put an extra $5,600 back in your pocket each year, and that TaaS could create more new millionaire investors over the next decade than anything else on the planet.
What's it all about, and is it legit?
TaaS is short for “Transportation as a Service,” which relates to self driving cars and the companies that are using these to disrupt the transportation industry. And Whitney Tilson, one of most respected investing professionals of our time, believes that investing in companies that are at the forefront of this technology could make a lot of people rich.
Which TaaS stock does he recommend?
The main TaaS company Whitney believes is set to benefit from the rise of TaaS is called Waymo LLC, which is an American autonomous driving technology development company.
But you can't actually buy Waymo stock. So if you wanted to take advantage of Whitney's TaaS prediction, you'd need to buy Alphabet stock (GOOGL) which is the company that owns Google.
Whitney believes that buying shares in it could be “an incredibly safe way to invest in the TaaS revolution.” Which makes sense, given that Alphabet is such a hugely successful company that, even without self driving cars, is (in my opinion) worth adding to any portfolio.
But as you can see, shares in Alphabet aren't exactly cheap. So Whitney talks about some other great ways you can make money from TaaS related companies.
For example, he talks about owning the most important technology within the electric car space. And owning shares in the two companies responsible for key technologies within autonomous vehicles. Finally, he mentions a small company, that he says almost nobody has heard about, that could potentially go way up in price. But he mentions that this last one is more speculative.
So, generally speaking, his TaaS recommendations consists of both “safe” picks and more speculative picks which may suite different investors.
And he lays all of this out within three special reports:
- The #1 Way to Profit on the Electric Vehicle Boom
- The Two Critical Driverless Technologies You Must Own Today
- The TaaS Speculation—How to Quadruple Your Money in the Next Few Years
There are no guarantees you will get rich with TaaS stocks. And as with any type of investing, there are risks involved. But within these reports, you get access to everything you need to know about exactly which companies he's recommending and how you can potentially profit from them.
How do you get access to the TaaS reports?
Well, that's where the “pitch” comes into play. In order to get access to these special reports, you need to subscribe to his investment advisory service, Empire Stock Investor, for $49.
What Is Empire Stock Investor?
Empire Stock Investor is a monthly investment advisory service that is published by Empire Financial Research and edited by Whitney Tilson and Enrique Abeyta. Both of which are seasoned investors with over 50 years of combined experience on Wall Street.
The main benefit of joining the service is that you get access to Whitney's investing insights via the monthly newsletter as well as his top stock picks.
But there are other benefits of joining, such as getting access to his detailed reports called “The Perfect Portfolio” and the bonus reports about TaaS that I mentioned earlier.
Empire Stock Investor is mostly geared towards people looking to invest conservatively, so it's made up of stock picks that are generally considered less risky. Whitney and the team usually recommend large-cap, U.S. stocks (meaning shares of larger, more stable companies).
And these stock plays normally last three to five years. So it's not about short term “gambling” on price movements, it's more about value investing.
Whitney says all you need are a “small handful of safe and incredibly profitable investment opportunities” that you bet really big on, which is how he was able to grow his investors’ money from $1 million to $200 million in peak assets.
And he says that you could could use the same strategy to “dramatically change your financial prospects.”
That said, the service does include some speculative picks for those who are interested in taking advantage of trends in the market.
How Does Empire Stock Investor Work?
The way Empire Stock Investor works is pretty straightforward.
Once you signup to the service for $49 on the Empire Financial Research website, you will get access to Whitney Tilson's stock picks and investment research. And the idea is to then learn from Whitney and Enrique, and use their recommendations to create a lucrative stock portfolio.
Here's an overview of what you get access to:
- Empire Stock Investor Monthly Newsletter: Each month, Whitney Tilson sends his subscribers a new report with a new investment idea, and provides updates on any changes to his model portfolio. This is the bread and butter of the advisory service.
- Model Portfolio: This portfolio helps you keep track of the stocks Whitney recommends. It shows you what stocks he's buying and at what price to keep you updated.
- Empire Financial Daily: Members also receive a daily email from the office of Whitney Tilson which keeps you informed and updated on what is happening in the market each day the market is open.
- Website access: Whitney‘s research and model portfolio are archived in the members only website. Which makes it handy to get access to everything in one place.
On top of this, subscribers also get access to these bonus reports:
- Report 1: The #1 Way to Profit on the Electric Vehicle Boom
- Report 2: The Two Critical Driverless Technologies You Must Own Today
- Report 3: The TaaS Speculation—How to Quadruple Your Money in the Next Few Years
As you can see, that's a LOT of value for just $49.
And to top it off, there's even a 30 day money back guarantee in place. Which means if you buy the service and aren't happy with your purchase after 30 days, you can get a refund. Which almost completely removes the risk of buying the service.
Who Is Whitney Tilson?
Whitney Tilson is the man behind Empire Stock Investor, founder and CEO of Empire Financial Research, and one of the most respected investors of our time.
He has been referred to as the “prophet” of investing given how well some of his calls have played out over the years.
After graduating from Harvard College in 1989, Whitney helped launch “Teach for America” and spent a couple years consulting for the Boston Consulting Group. And in 1994, he earned his MBA from Harvard Business School.
From here, he founded and ran Kase Capital Management from his bedroom, and was able to turn $1 million into almost $200 million in assets under management in a relatively short period of time.
And after many years of successful investing for both himself and his clients, he now shares his insights with people who subscribe to his flagship service – Empire Stock Investor.
He's also co-authored books like “The Art of Value Investing: How the World’s Best Investors Beat the Market” and written for the Motley Fool, Forbes and the Financial Times among others.
And as if that wasn't enough, he's also been featured in two 60 Minutes segments and appeared many times on Fox Business Network, CNBC and Bloomberg TV.
Is Empire Stock Investor Legitimate?
Yes, Empire Stock Investor is a legitimate advisory service.
And it's run by a team of investing experts, including Whitney Tilson, Enrique Abeyta and Steve Culbertson, who work hard to provide subscribers with lots of high value insight.
So if you're someone who wants to manage your own portfolio, but with the help of those with a proven track record, this could be the service you've been looking for.
And either way, I personally think that for $49, there’s very little downside to buying the subscription itself. Even if you're not a fan of Whitney's stock picks, you are almost certainly going to learn something as a member. And considering there’s a full 365 day money back guarantee, it's a no brainer in my books.
That doesn't mean it's completely risk-free though.
Nor does it mean you are guaranteed to make lots of money. Because no matter how knowledgable you are or how well you play the market, nobody gets it right 100% of the time. Which is why speculating in the stock market is not without risks.
However, as a member of Empire Stock Investor, you are getting every chance to profit from the recommendations of experts in the field. So, as long as you understand the potential risks, I think it could be well worth it for the right person.
Whitney Tilson is an expert investor who shares a great deal of value with his members. So by joining you could potentially use what you learn to create lucrative portfolio.
That said, as with any type of investing, there are risks involved.
And this has never been more true than right now, in 2020. As I write this, we are experiencing what can only be described as radical uncertainty in the markets. Which is why it pays to educate yourself and do your due diligence before risking your money.
The good news is that, unlike many advisory services I've seen over the years, members of Empire Stock Investor aren't just given a bunch of stock picks and expected to just blindly trust that they'll pay off one day.
As a member, you get access to a ton of useful insight so that you can learn how to become a successful investor and be confident in where you're putting your money. Which is one of the key things that separates this from other services and what gives it a lot of credibility.
